Walk 1 - Dunrobin Wood
DESCRIPTION
A very easy but pleasant walk through the woodland to Dunrobin Castle. At the Castle you can choose to continue the walk to the east of the Castle or to return to Golspie by the road or by the shoreline.

HOW TO GET THERE

Travel to the north end of Golspie Main Street and at the sharp left turn at the Church turn right and go down Duke Street. Park considerately at the foot of the street |
THE WALK
| A | Cross the foot bridge and walk towards the field gate on your left. Instead of going through the gate turn left and follow the path into the wood. Go up the steps and at the top of this short rise take the path to the right. |
| B | Continue along this path until you come to a private roadway.( Just short of this junction you may wish to look at the memorial to Lord Alistair on the shore side of the track.) |
| C | Turn left along this road and look for the "blue" walker's sign post on your right. |

Take this path through the trees until you come to 2 route marker posts.Follow the blue one downhill to the right. At the bottom of the first set of steps turn left. |
| E | This path takes you over a small bridge and then a wooden walkway to beside the castle. Walk uphillto the front of the castle. (It is well worthwhile taking a break here but this is not included in the walk time listed below). |
| F | Walk up the main castle driveway and look for the `green' signpost on the right. Take this path to theright which passes the cemetery and winds downhill to the shore. |
| G | Turn right here and take the pathway along the shoreline back to Golspie. |
