Davy Duff Tape Service

The Davy Duff Tape Service was started by Davy in the mid eighties.  Davy who some people will remember as a member of the Country and Western Band, Colorado was blind himself when he started recording the Northern Times on to tape each week with the help of a group of readers.  It was a service much appreciated throughout the north and when he died the group decided to continue with the service.  By 1990, enough money was collected to build a small studio upstairs in Fountain Road Church Hall.

Now the Northern Times is recorded every week in this studio and sent out to any blind or visually impaired person who wishes to receive a copy.  It is a totally free service.  Two to three times a year, a taped magazine is also sent out.  This magazine includes music, poetry, stories and interesting local articles.  The readers and recorders are all volunteers and the whole service is funded by  donations.

If you know of anyone who is blind or visually impaired who would like a tape please contact ; Miss Mary Nicol, Secretary, Tel:- 01408 634442 or Mrs Anne Barclay , Chairman Tel:- 01408 633405
