Bird Watching

East Sutherland Bird Group was formed in November 1976 and has been active ever since.

The aim of the Group is to promote the conservation, understanding and enjoyment of birds in Sutherland, the Highlands and further afield.  The Group arranges a series of illustrated talks every winter and also raises funds to distribute to conservation organisations or groups by holding a raffle at each meeting and by selling bird food to members. Organisations supported have included RSPB, Scottish Wildlife Trust, Highland Ringing Group and the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds. Field meetings are organised on an ad-hoc basis.

The winter indoor meetings are held in Golspie Community Centre usually on the last Monday of the month in October, November, January, February and March (except when this falls in a school holiday).

New members are always welcome and further details can be obtained from the chairman, Tony Mainwood e-mail tony.mainwood@which.net or tel 01408 633247.
